Letter to my younger self

“I used to think people were like lighthouses. That they were there to protect you. But they’re not. People are like whirlpools. They pull you in; they drag you under. You have to work so hard just to keep your head above water.” • Lang Leav, Sad Girls

Looking back at how things used to be, at how you used to do things… looking back at how you used to see yourself and at how you used to take in what is given to you by the world… Many have so many regrets about their past lives and wish they could have done things differently. Of course, there’s nothing wrong in wishing you could change a few things about your past. They say we are shaped by who we were and what we’ve gone through, understand that I wouldn’t change a thing of my past. Undeniably so, my past made me. I’ve always thought to myself, if by any chance I have regrets about my past or childhood, then I despise the woman I have become. Of which i has to teach my self that it isn’t the case. I cannot contest the fact that some things that I wish I knew before taking certain steps or doing certain things and getting accustomed to certain people. Maybe I would have turned out even better than I am today. Here me now, you can never change anything of the past rather you can learn from it. In effect, we are still growing, certainly some advice you would give to your younger self could still be viable in current times. Take that advice and use it for the better. Remember, the best lessons are learnt from mistakes.

Some ladies sharing words they would tell/advice to their younger self.

It’s ok to be an outsider, you don’t need to belong to go beyond your wildest dreams

Start doing things now. It’s not about ‘you are young, you can’t do AB or C’ stop waiting and start.

Stop being discouraged by others, love yourself more.

Remember when you were forced into a rage? It’s not your fault, it never was. Let it go and live your life like it’s golden, because it is!

“But I got smarter, I got harder in the nick of time. Honey I rose up from the dead; I do it all the time.” • TS

The decisions we make as we grow show signs of how our successes will look like. Despite the thousands of mistakes that we make, success is a possibility for all of us. When you are young, that is the best time to explore and live your best life without any regrets because that is the time your mind is free and at ease. It is your time to define for yourself what kind of future you want and what kind of new world you want to create. Assuredly, regrets are part of life, but never let them define your now. What you wish you have known at an earlier age is what you know now. Use it to create a better future. Because your today is tomorrow’s past and tomorrow and today’s future. Use today wisely to create an imagined future.
